What is an AI acceptable use policy?
An acceptable use policy, often called an AUP, is the student-facing rule. For AI, it usually covers homework help versus finished work, images of real people, personal data in prompts, and whether a tool is approved. It can live inside a larger technology AUP or as its own page.
TeachAI's toolkit is one public place districts start. The policy still has to match the tools you actually deploy. A rule that bans a behavior the product encourages will not hold.
Why an AI acceptable use policy matters
Students treat silence as permission. A one-page AUP gives teachers a sentence to point at. Parents can ask for that page and use the same line at home.
Detection tools are a weak substitute for a clear rule. A policy that defines the allowed help is easier to enforce than a score that guesses who wrote a paragraph.

- Prompts may not include another student's full name or photo.
