What parents should know
Teens use AI for school and for company. A teen account that a parent cannot open is a different product from a family account with a readable chat. HeyOtto does not split teens into a hidden tier.

What is AI for teens?
AI for teens is not a separate science. It is the same tools, used by people who are old enough to type fluently and young enough to need an adult on the account. Homework, research, images, and long personal chats all show up. The product decides which of those it is built for.
Some companies offer a teen profile with its own defaults, often around ages 13–17, that the teen opens alone. HeyOtto does not use that pattern. A parent provisions one account for ages 8–18 and can read the chats.
Why AI for teens matters
Teens are the group most likely to keep a long private thread. If you cannot open it, you will not see distress, a cruel prompt, or a homework answer they cannot explain. Visibility is the feature.
School rules and home rules can differ. A teacher may see a school session. At home, the parent is the adult. Ask which account you are in before you assume both are true.
How it shows up in practice
- A teen uses homework help and the parent can see the prompt.
- A personal chat app has no parent view, and the family treats that as a different decision.
- Topic limits stay on for a 16-year-old, not only for a younger sibling.
How HeyOtto helps

Do teens get a private HeyOtto login?
No. A parent creates the account. The parent can read the chats. Topic limits are per child, including for teens.
Is this only for homework?
Otto is for school, research, and creating. It is not built as an ongoing emotional relationship product. Topic limits still apply.
What if a teen is in distress?
The chat can show crisis resources, including 988, and the parent gets an alert. HeyOtto does not auto-contact emergency services. Otto is not a clinician.
