What is AI literacy in schools?
The general AI literacy page covers the skill. This page is that skill inside a school: lessons, teacher examples, and an acceptable-use line. UNESCO's student competency framework is one reference for understanding, using, and questioning AI. A district still writes its own lessons.
Literacy fails if the only tool in the room writes the assignment. Students need a chance to try the step and to say where an answer came from. A teacher who can see the session can coach that habit.
Why AI literacy in schools matters
A ban does not teach the skill, and an open bot does not teach judgment. Classrooms need a worked example: ask, check, and finish in your own words. Parents can ask what the school actually teaches, not only whether AI is allowed.
