Highlights
What kids can make
HD images — 10 tokens
Higher-detail pictures for projects, posters, and stories. Kids describe what they want in chat; Otto helps them get a clear result.
Standard images — 5 tokens
Everyday pictures for homework, cards, and creative play. Same chat flow as HD, at a lower token cost.
Coloring pages — 5 tokens
Black-and-white line art kids can print and color. Good for quiet time and classroom printouts.
Comic strips — 5 tokens
Short comic-style panels for school projects and storytelling. Describe the scene; Otto builds the panels.
Sketches — 5 tokens
Drawing-style sketches for ideas, characters, and simple diagrams.
Avatars — 2 tokens
A quick profile picture kids can set as their avatar from the Library.
How it works
How visuals work
01
Pick a tool and write a prompt
From the + menu, kids choose Generate HD image, Generate image, coloring page, comic strip, sketch, or avatar. The message box pre-fills; they finish the idea in plain language and send. [Image slot: 01_menu.png — tools menu with token costs; 02_prompt.png — prompt typed in the message box]
02
Review the cost card
Otto shows a card with the tool name and token cost, plus Cancel and Accept. Tokens are only spent after Accept — nothing is charged if they cancel. [Image slot: 03a_accept_prompt.png — Accept/Cancel cost card]
03
Get the result
After Accept, Otto generates the image and adds a short caption. Kids can open it full-size to print or download. [Image slot: 03_hd_result.png — HD result in full-size viewer; optional polish of 05_coloring_page.png for coloring]
04
Edit by chatting
Want a change? Kids type something like "make it nighttime" in the same chat. Otto shows a new cost card, then creates a new image. The first image stays in the chat. [Image slot: 04_edit_nighttime.png — edited nighttime result]
05
Auto-saves to the Library
Every generated image is saved to the student's Library. From Actions they can download, print, set as avatar, favorite, or open details. [Image slot: 07_library_actions.png — Library with Actions menu]
06
Safety: unsafe asks are redirected
If a kid asks for something unsafe, Otto steers them to a safer idea. No tool card appears and no tokens are charged. [Image slot: 06_safety_blocked_request.png — Otto's redirect reply with no charge]
07
Parent controls for visuals
Parents can turn each image tool on or off, set overrides for a specific student, and set token limits. Pair this with per-child settings on Child Profiles (/features/profiles) and the Parent Dashboard (/parent-dashboard). Also see AI built for kids (/ai-for-kids).
