On October 14, 2026, attorneys general in eight states (Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, and West Virginia) filed lawsuits against OpenAI in state courts, mostly under state consumer protection laws. A day earlier, on October 13, a proposed class action, Doe v. OpenAI Foundation, was filed in federal court in Northern California.
